The Barbara Fox Classic League was established in 1979. The original name of the league was called the Elm City Bowling League which bowled in Amity Family Bowl and Hamden Lanes. In 1985, the league was renamed after a bowler, Barbara Jean Fox, who passed away suddenly. With the closing of Hamden Lanes, the league relocated to Wallingford Bowl.
