BARBARA FOX CLASSIC TNBA BOWLING LEAGUE

2009-2010 LEAGUE BY-LAWS

League Officers:

This league shall be known as the BARBARA FOX CLASSIC LEAGUE OF THE TNBA and will consist of 37 teams of four (4) members of any mixed combination.  The league will commence bowling on August 21st 2010 and end on May 7th 2010.

The EXECUTIVE BOARD will consist of LEAGUE OFFICERS and the TEAM CAPTAINS.  Team Captains will handle all team complaints.  Two-thirds of the board will decide on issues that may arise.

 

FEES

1.         All bowlers including substitutes must be sanctioned in accordance with the USBC/TNBA rules and regulations.  USBC sanction fee is $19.00 and the TNBA sanction is $15.00.  All bowlers must be sanctioned the first night of bowling.

2.        Each bowler will pay $21.00 per night.  Distribution is as follows:

3.        The Team Entry Fee is $80.00 ($20.00 per roster bowler) and is due by October 30th.      

4.        TEAM CAPTAINS will be held responsible for the TEAM MONEY.  All monies should be turned in by the end of the 5th frame. 

5.        All bowlers are expected to pay their weekly fees every night they bowl.  Maximum arrearage allowed for any bowler is $-42 or two (2) weeks.  Any bowler more than two (2) weeks behind in fees will not be permitted to bowl and the bower’s absentee score must be used.  Team captains are required to monitor their team’s finances. 

a.        If a team captain allows a roster member to bowl and the bowler is over the maximum arrearage allowed, the team will forfeit all points won.

b.       If a team captain is not present and a roster member bowls while over the maximum arrearage allowed, the team will forfeit all points won.

c.        A substitute cannot bowl for a bowler two (2) weeks in the arrears.

6.        The last two (2) weeks of the season MUST BE PREPAID.  Week 35 on December 18th and Week 36 on April 23rd.

7.        PERSONAL CHECKS made payable to the Barbara Fox Classic League will be accepted.  A check returned for insufficient funds and fees associated with the check must be paid the following week.  There will be only one (1) insufficient funds check allowed per bowler per season.

AVERAGES, HANDICAPS AND SCORING

8.        The team entering average cap has been established at 850.

a.        The team handicap is 90% of 850 minus the team average.

Ex:  Team Average is 790.  850 - 790 = 60 x .90 = 54 pins team handicap.

9.        Each bowler will begin the season with their established 2008-2009 Barbara Fox Classic League average based on 21 games or more games.  All other bowlers will use their highest 2008-2009 USBC book average.  New bowlers without an established book average in either of the above will enter the league with a 160 average.  New season averages for all bowlers will be established after bowling six (6) games.

10.     The seven point scoring system will be in effect.  Two (2) points for each game won and One (1) point for total pin fall.

11.     Position Round will occur every sixth week.

LINE-UPS, TARDY BOWLERS, ABSENTEES, VACANCIES AND SUBSTITUTES

12.      Two (2) roster members constitute a LEGAL-LINE UP and are expected to bowl as scheduled.  A team cannot pre or post bowl as long as 2 rosters members are available to bowl. 

13.      TARDY BOWLERS are permitted to bowl providing they arrive before the anchor bowler of the opposing team completes their fourth frame.

14.     The league ABSENTEE SCORE IS THE absent bowler’s average minus ten (10) pins.

15.     When a team has a VACANCY a 160 average will be used.  AT ANY TIME DURING THE SEASON, A TEAM CAPTAIN CAN FILL A VACANCY WITH A PERMANENT BOWLER TO BRING THEIR UP TO LEAGUE STRENGTH (USBC Rule 107c-9).

16.     A maximum of two (2) substitutes will be allowed provided two (2) roster members are present. Substitutes do not determine a legal line-up.

17.      Substitutes on Position Night are not allowed with the exception of a roster bowler incapacitated due to injury.

18.     There will be no substitutes allowed the last four (4) weeks of bowling (33-36).

FORFEITS, PREBOWLS AND POSTPONEMENTS

19.     A FORFEIT will be declared when a team fails to show up or only one (1) Roster Member is present to bowl.  The opposing can allow a five (5) minute grace period beginning when the lanes are turned on.

20.     The team that is present must bowl within 40 pins of the team average in order to win the points.

a.         If another Roster member shows up before the completion of the first frame by both teams, a FORFEIT CANNOT BE DECLARED (USBC Rule 109a-2).

b.        A bowler(s) can bowl in a known forfeit situation.  Pins will not be included in the team’s total pins.  Scores bowled will count towards averages, league awards and USBC awards (USBC Rule 110c4/a-c).

21.     If a team cannot field a legal line-up on a schedule night of bowling with sufficient cause, a team captain can request unopposed pre or post-bowling.  A Team captain is required to give a 48 hour notice to the opposing team captain as well as the League Secretary or other League Officer.  A postponement will be granted to a team facing an emergency situation or unforeseen circumstance on a scheduled night of bowling. In either case, the League Secretary shall notify the bowling center of the change in schedule and arrange to have a pair of lanes available.   All make-ups must be completed before the next scheduled night of bowling.

a.        Unopposed pre or post bowled scores will be eligible for USBC award except, High Score Awards as designated in Rules 51a, 51b, 51c, 51d, 52b and 52d (USBC Rule 111e-8).

PRIZES AND AWARDS

22.     A bowler must bowl two-thirds (72 games) of the scheduled bowling season in order to qualify for and individual award.

23.     There will be separate divisions for scratch and handicap for men and women.  Only one (1) prize can be won per team and individual.  The exception is the Most Improved Bowler which will be awarded to the male and female bowler who exceeds their prior season’s average by the most pins.

24.     If a team FORFIETS all three (3) games any of the last three (3) weeks, they lose ONE-THIRD of their prize money which will be divided equally among the remaining teams.

25.     In the event in a tie between 1st and 2nd place in the main team event, the tie will be decided by a one game roll-off.
